Todt Promises No Let-Up from Ferrari

Ferrari will not be taking their foot off the pedal in the last five races of the year, despite being assured of a double World Championship success after the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, said general manager Jean Todt.

Ferrari will not be taking their foot off the pedal in the last five races of the year, despite being assured of a double World Championship success after the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, said general manager Jean Todt.

German Michael Schumacher's record 12th victory of the season on Sunday wrapped up a sixth consecutive World Championship crown for Ferrari.

The six-time World Champion now has a 38-point advantage over teammate Rubens Barrichello in the drivers' race and the Brazilian is the only man who can mathematically deny him the crown, leaving Ferrari with both titles though Todt said they would not let-up until the end of the season.

"It doesn't mean that it will be the same in Spa or in Monza," Todt said of Ferrari's dominance in Budapest. "Every time it's a new challenge, which makes the thing interesting.

"But even if we know we have a good package, we know that the others are pushing like hell, because they hate seeing us in front, and we hate seeing them in front. That makes the competition.

"Relaxed? I'm never relaxed, but I think that's in my nature. It's easy to say that nobody will beat us, but believe me they are all crazy about how they will beat us and when they will beat us.

"We are going to fight as much as we can to still beat them."

If Schumacher extends his run of victories in the Belgian Grand Prix in two weeks he will be assured of a seventh drivers' title.

Even if Barrichello finishes second in the Spa-Francorchamps race behind his teammate, Schumacher would hold a 40-point advantage with only 40 points available. The German would therefore take the title on number of wins with Barrichello yet to win this season.

Ferrari also have 202 points from the 13 races this year, 111 more than second-placed Renault, and a record points haul is on the cards. But Todt said the team would not get carried away by their success.

"I always feel that we will not win the next race," he said. "But we keep motivation up because we want to continue collecting wins and titles."
