Solid start for Baumgartner

Hungarians could not have asked for any more from their man Zsolt Baumgartner in his unexpected F1 debut with Jordan. His race on Sunday was clean and error-free, and in the end it was the car that let him down and not vice versa

Baumgartner drove a solid race from 19th on the grid, and was lying 15th when his Ford engine gave in on lap 35.

"That's just motorsport," said Baumgartner. "Technical defeats can happen and unfortunately it happened to me today. It was a great feeling to drive here in front of the fans and see them so happy. It's a shame but I enjoyed the race while it lasted and I hope I can be in Formula 1 in the future."

Jordan technical chief added praise for Baumgartner, who was thrust into the race seat following Ralph Firman's accident on Saturday.

"Zsolt took the pressure and got on with the job as best as he could," said Anderson. "His objective was to keep it neat and tidy, not make any mistakes and get it to the flag. It was our package that let the drivers down."

The under-performing Jordan outfit suffered a total of four engine failures this weekend, with Giancarlo Fisichella also retiring with a malfunctioning powerplant.

"Just when you think things can't get much worse they often do," continued Anderson. "The package is chassis, engine and tyres: the first Bridgestone runner came home eighth after being lapped, neither of our engines lasted and our car is not quick enough, so altogether it's pretty frustrating."
