Sauber Satisfied with Friday Work

Sauber duo Felipe Massa and Jacques Villeneuve drew some consolation from having found an easy choice on tyres for this weekend's United States Grand Prix after ending opening practice 12 th and 17th respectively

The two drivers worked on different tyre programmes throughout the day, which accounted for their difference on the timesheets, and neither had any major dramas as they discovered that the softer tyre was as good as the harder option over long runs.

"It was really okay," said Massa, who had two spins during practice. "It was not too bad; I mean, I think I had a reasonable lap time.

"My car, we still need to improve in the long-run because it was really oversteery. It was not easy to get the right base for the long runs. So we are working on that, and I hope tomorrow the track will improve a bit. So I'm looking forward."

Villeneuve added: "It was okay. We concentrated on the tyres, which is always the thing to do on Friday. Both cars were on different programs. So we can choose what tyres to take for tomorrow.

"The long runs were good. Definitely we'll take the other tyre for tomorrow."
