Saturday Second Free Practice - Chinese GP

World Champion Michael Schumacher turned up the heat in Saturday's final practice session when he led a Ferrari one-two at the top of the timesheets ahead of qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix.

World Champion Michael Schumacher turned up the heat in Saturday's final practice session when he led a Ferrari one-two at the top of the timesheets ahead of qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix.

Schumacher, who had yet to top a session this weekend, set a time of 1:33.448 in temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius, but it was slower than of the fastest lap so far, set by BAR-Honda test driver Anthony Davidson on Friday.

It put him 0.348 seconds ahead of second-placed Brazilian teammate Rubens Barrichello with McLaren-Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen finishing 0.594 down as the best of the rest.

Briton Jenson Button finished fourth fastest in his BAR with Italian Giancarlo Fisichella fifth for Sauber and German Nick Heidfeld in a surprise sixth place, less than one second off the lead pace, in his Jordan.

Juan Pablo Montoya, who finished second fastest in the earlier morning session, finished seventh in his Williams-BMW with Scot David Coulthard eighth in the second McLaren.

Brazilian Ricardo Zonta finished ninth fastest in his Toyota with his compatriot Felipe Massa completing the top ten runners in his Sauber but finishing 1.159 seconds off session-leader Schumacher's pace.

Schumacher and Austrian Christian Klien both ran wide at turn 16 and Canadian Jacques Villeneuve, who finished a disappointing 15th fastest, went off in his Renault at turn seven in the only other incident of the session.
