Saturday First Free Practice - Hungarian GP

World Champion Michael Schumacher pushed Williams-BMW stand-in Antonio Pizzonia down to second with a late lap to claim the top spot in Saturday's opening practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix, at an overcast Hungaroring circuit.

Brazilian Pizzonia, who is replacing the injured Ralf Schumacher, led the session with a time of 1:20.482 as the clock struck zero but Michael Schumacher then put in a lap 0.266 seconds faster.

Cloudy skies and brief spots of rain greeted the drivers when they arrived at the circuit and the 45-minute session started slowly as few ventured out onto the track until late on.

Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, in the second Williams, finished third, a little more than two tenths slower than his team-mate, as the team continued to work on setting up their modified car.

Briton Jenson Button finished fourth fastest, half a second off Schumacher's leading pace, to put himself ahead of Brazilian Rubens Barrichello in the second Ferrari, who made it three South Americans in the top five.

Renault pair Jarno Trulli, of Italy, and Fernando Alonso, of Spain, finished sixth and seventh respectively with McLaren pair David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen sandwiching ninth-placed Felipe Massa to complete the top ten.

The session saw few incidents and Australian Mark Webber, of Jaguar, Frenchman Olivier Panis, of Toyota, and Takuma Sato - who failed to set a time for BAR-Honda - were the only drivers to go off track.
