Rosberg pleased despite no podium

Nico Rosberg was pleased with his fifth place at the European Grand Prix, despite still being unable to climb onto the podium for the first time this year

The German driver has been close to a top-three finish several times this year, but he reckons the progress made by McLaren in recent races has denied him a chance to climb onto the podium.

"I'm pleased. I mean, we are constantly scoring a lot of points," Rosberg told the BBC after the race.

"That's a good thing for me and for us so I have to be pleased with that, even though it is a bit frustrating because McLaren made such a big jump that they were behind us - like far behind us - and now they are in front.

"Otherwise, we'd be on the podium now, with the progress we've made relative to all the other teams. So, it's a bit of a pity but we just need to work even harder and then we'll get there I think."

The Williams driver, who finished 20 seconds behind race winner Rubens Barrichello, was left upbeat for next weekend's race at Spa, where he reckons his team will be strong again.

"Spa I think we can do very well again. I mean, our car is suited to every single track, it doesn't matter where we go, so I think we'll do well there."
