Richards: 'We can deliver'

On the eve of the San Marino Grand Prix, BAR boss David Richards says that his team can deliver on its promise to challenge Formula 1's big three

"This year we promised to take the fight to the top three teams," said Richards, " and our current position in the drivers' and constructors' championships shows that we can deliver against that target."

Lead driver Jenson Button, who has finished third in the last two races, is also upbeat. "We will be hoping to keep the, momentum going, said the Briton. "The team are feeling confident and we are making good progress in testing."

Recent tests have been with a number of new parts for the car. "We will be introducing a revised engine and aero package for San Marino," confirmed team technical director Geoff Willis.

Button says the revised car should be both quick and reliable. "Our car has shown good reliability at the tests in Barcelona and Paul Ricard," he continued. "In addition, the speed we have shown is very positive, so I think we should be quite competitive in Imola."
