Revamped Renault Aiming to Shine at Silverstone

Renault are hoping for one of their best performances of the Formula One season in Sunday's British Grand Prix.

Renault are hoping for one of their best performances of the Formula One season in Sunday's British Grand Prix.

Technical director Mike Gascoyne said Renault were bringing a revised R23B chassis to Silverstone after significant development work.

"We will have a major bodywork update on the car," he said in a team preview. "We have decided to christen this R23B as it groups together a significant number of detail modifications into a single package."

Gascoyne said Silverstone, 11th round of the 16 race Championship, should suit Renault well as a circuit akin to Barcelona - where Spaniard Fernando Alonso finished a close second in May.

"Silverstone is a circuit which rewards strong aerodynamic performance and we have further improvements in that area for this race. I think we can have a very competitive weekend and take points off our direct competitors," he said.

Renault are currently fourth in the Championship, 33 points behind third-placed McLaren. Neither of their cars finished the last race in France.
