Pizzonia aims for more miles

Jaguar's Formula 1 rookie Antonio Pizzonia is hoping to accrue more track time in practice ahead of Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix to allow him to show his true ability after a lacklustre performance in Australia

Pizzonia came under attack from a number of Formula 1 pundits in Melbourne, most notably ITV F1 commentator Martin Brundle, who labelled his Friday qualifying lap as "amateur". Pizzonia will have the spare car in Sepang this weekend so he doesn't lose too much time if his race machine develops a problem during testing and free practice.

"I was reasonably pleased with how much I had learnt over the weekend [in Melbourne]," said Pizzonia. "Although I could really have done with more track time prior to qualifying and the race. I will be aiming to generate as much mileage as possible during our Friday testing and free practice sessions.

"I have never been to Malaysia before, let alone raced there," he added. "The heat and humidity will no doubt play a key part in everyone's weekend. I'm looking forward to racing in these conditions because of my experiences of racing in Brazil where track surfaces have been known to melt! I am really looking forward to this grand prix and in particular to redress the balance from Melbourne."
