Paddy Power: Brazil betting tips

Despite the Williams success in Malaysia, Michael Schumacher is still Paddy Power's favourite to win in Brazil. The fact that Ferrari is taking the new F2002 to Interlagos should strengthen his hand, but with the old F2001 as his spare chassis, perhaps the effort in the Ferrari garage will be polarised

Our tip would be to concentrate strongly on Williams-BMW. There are some good odds to be had. If Malaysia had been allowed to run its true course, Juan Pablo Montoya would likely have won it. And remember JPM in Brazil last year? The long uphill drag from Juncao across the start-finish line is tailor-made for the potent BMW V10 and the Brazilian heat should play to Michelin's strength again.

M Schumacher could always throw a spoke in the wheel of course, but Frank's cars look a good bet for the pole. Montoya is quoted at 9-4 with Ralf Schumacher at 5-1, so why not cover both? The McLaren has been a bit asthmatic so far and it's doubtful whether Barrichello has the pace, so Michael is the only serious concern.

In the race, there's 9-4 to be had on Montoya and 4-1 on Ralf. Or, better still, try a couple of speciality punts. Montoya is 13-2 for the pole and win, while a stunningly generous 25-1 is offered on Ralf achieving the same thing.

The potent Toyota should also like Interlagos and so 9-1 on Allan McNish for a point could be worth a flutter. Likewise, Pedro de la Rosa at 12-1. In case you think that's madness, let us remind you that the attrition rate could be high and de la Rosa - on Michelins remember - set a fastest lap at Sepang which was in the top half dozen.
