No problems with Rosberg, says Webber
Williams rookie Nico Rosberg has been given a vote of support from teammate Mark Webber - despite the pair nearly coming to blows at the Malaysian Grand Prix
Rosberg swerved across the track after the start at Sepang to try and block Webber's car - and in doing so allowed Renault's World Champion Fernando Alonso to overtake the pair of them.
Although Rosberg admitted after the event that he was wrong to have been so aggressive against his teammate, Webber has said that he has no complaints about the way things having been panning out with the German.
"We are getting on very good," said Webber ahead of his home grand prix in Melbourne this weekend. "I thought it (the Malaysian move) was a little bit close, but it is the normal thing really. When you get your helmet on you do take it to the edge, mate.
"And I think that is fair play to him for having a crack at it. He knew he had made a poor start and he was looking to cover himself. I just happened to be the guy next to him.
"I think he would have done the same if it was someone else from another team, but what made it worse for him was that Fernando cleaned up both McLarens and both Williams, so I couldn't extract my strategy behind Fernando. But yeah, I thought it was alright."
And although Rosberg has grabbed much of the attention at Williams with his performances in the first two races of the season, Webber has denied that he is feeling any more pressure to perform.
"I like having someone pressing me," explained Webber. "I have had teammates that haven't turned up at all and I have had teammates who have been strong.
"In Malaysia I used one set of tyres in qualifying and Nico used two, so there are always ins and outs. At the end of the season we will see who has had the best year.
"He is a good challenge and there is always going to be a lot of press around his running because of what his father did, and that is normal. My dad didn't win any world championships but I am who I am. I deserve my Williams drive and I will do my best to do the best for my career, and Nico will be doing the same. I just sit there and do my job."
In fact, Webber claims that he is as relieved as Williams team bosses that Rosberg is performing so well.
"He absolutely deserves his slot in F1, which is great. We have seen before that some drivers cannot back up their testing pace at race weekends. Whatever it is, they don't do the business under the pressure of a race weekend, but Nico has done that.
"It is a huge relief for the team that he has turned up and been right on the pace. Both of us are pushing each other hard and I am really, really happy.
"I am disappointed that Jenson (Button) didn't join the team, but now we have got Nico obviously and he has turned out to be superb. So that is really, really good for the team and we just have to get the most out of it."
