Montoya Aiming to 'Blow Raikkonen Away'

Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya says he is glad to have left Williams and cannot wait to start a Formula One rivalry with new teammate Kimi Raikkonen at McLaren next season.

Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya says he is glad to have left Williams and cannot wait to start a Formula One rivalry with new teammate Kimi Raikkonen at McLaren next season.

Montoya, who won the final race of the 2004 season in Brazil last month, said in an interview published on Monday in Auto Bild Motorsport that he expected the battle with Finland's Raikkonen to benefit both drivers.

"He'll want to blow me away and I aim to do the same thing to him," Montoya said. "The duel will bring both of us forward. A new team is like a new toy. I feel like it's my first day at school."

Montoya also criticised Williams engine supplier BMW and former Williams teammate Ralf Schumacher.

"It was strange," Montoya said. "In 2003 the cooperation was super at times. But BMW was getting more demanding in all areas. I don't know exactly what happened and what's normal in Formula One between two partners."

Of Schumacher he said: "He's very good on his better days. He can be very fast. But he has days where he has no interest. He's not the same. It's a mystery to me."
