Michael tries to take heat off Bridgestone
Michael Schumacher says that Bridgestone is not solely to blame for Ferrari's recent fall-off in competitiveness. "I've said this many times before - success in F1 is not about one single element, it is about making a package work," the five-times champion said ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix
Ferrari ran a three-pronged test attack at Barcelona, Mugello and Fiorano, ahead of the summer testing ban that comes into effect after this weekend's race at Silverstone. "We did good work and we will just have to wait and see if it is good enough," he added.
Schumacher admitted that he is surprised that the major challenge to his sixth drivers' championship now appears to be from Williams, and not McLaren. "I am surprised if you look at where Williams were at the start of the season. They have made huge progress," he said.
As for as the possibility of racing his brother for the championship, Michael said: "Obviously that is a new situation for us, but in every respect a positive one. I'm looking forward to it."
