McLaren not worried by Renault pace
Renault's impressive start to the season is not a cause of concern to McLaren, according to team boss Ron Dennis
That is despite the French manufacturer lying just two points behind the Woking outfit in the constructors' championship after three races. With Jenson Button scoring two consecutive fourth places, he is ahead in the drivers' stakes of both David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen, who each have scored a third place this season.
But when asked if Renault will be a headache to McLaren this year, Dennis replied: "I doubt it."
Button and his team-mate Jarno Trulli ran ahead of Coulthard and Raikkonen respectively in the opening stages of Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix. But the McLarens outqualified the Renaults and ultimately proved quicker in the race too.
Dennis said of Renault: "I think they did a competent job, they had better starts than we had, and at the end of the day the nature of F1 at the moment is that you've got to have such a performance advantage to get past. It's not that easy."
McLaren lies third in the constructors' table at this early stage of the season and has proven to be off the pace of F1's top two, Ferrari and Williams.
