Massa says overdriving cost him pole

Felipe Massa blamed a bit of overdriving in the final qualifying session at Magny-Cours on his failure to beat teammate Kimi Raikkonen to pole position in the French Grand Prix

The Brazilian could not overhaul the first lap Q3 effort from his teammate - but was not too disheartened at starting from the front row of the grid.

"I was a little bit overdriving too much in Q3," said Massa. "I was trying to get the best out of the car and lost a little bit of time on the track and in a couple of corners trying to push too hard.

"But the car had a lot more fuel compared to Q1 and Q2... Anyway, I think the front row is good and I am looking very much (forward) to the race tomorrow."

Massa's one bit of good news was the neck injury which had plagued him during Friday practice was much improved.

"It was a stupid thing," he said. "I was in the elevator, had a moment and felt my neck. I was not even driving!

"It was a little bit strange, and I had a lot of pain yesterday in the sessions. This morning was a little bit (of pain) but getting better and better. Tomorrow should be okay."
