Massa hopes to steal points from Renault

Brazilian Felipe Massa realises the importance his performance will have in helping Ferrari win this year's titles

"My help is certainly important, because we must take maximum points away from Renault," the Brazilian told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Massa, in his first season as a racing driver for the Ferrari team, has scored 42 points, including three podiums, and is currently in fifth place in the standings, just four points behind third-placed Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella.

"As far as I'm concerned I will do my best: I can't fight for the title anymore but I want to help the team achieve the constructors' one and personally I can aspire to be third in the drivers' championship," Massa added.

Ferrari are 21 points behind world champions Renault with seven races remaining.

Massa believes beating Renault will not be an easy task, however.

"I think the team want to win and they'll do the impossible to get both championships," the Brazilian said of his rivals. "But it's true that we are very united and we work well."
