Kubica fears he'll have to change style

The Pole, who earned great plaudits in 2006 for his committed style, has admitted that he has found it difficulty adapting to the harder and slower rubber that Bridgestone has given the teams for this year.

Speaking at the launch of the new BMW Sauber F1.07 in Valencia on Tuesday, Kubica said that he hoped a driving revamp would not be needed so he could continue the impressive form he showed last year.

"You have to drive really smooth with these tyres," said the Pole, who scored a podium in his third F1 race at Monza last year. "At least with our car I struggled with stability on braking, which was causing a lot of problems on the entry to corners.

"So if nothing has changed in the car, then probably you will not see any more driving from me as aggressive as I was last year."

He added: "I am worried that I will have to learn everything from new, because I have driven the last five years like this.

"I already worked on it in testing at Jerez, and in the last test at Jerez it was the one that we had no problems on the car, so then I could see good improvements.

"You have to control things a bit more. Before everything was a bit more automatic, now I have to think about what I am doing in the car."

Despite the hype surrounding him, Kubica is determined not to let personal expectations get out of control in the season ahead.

"I hope for a good constant pace through the year and some good driving," he said about his 2007 hopes. "If the car helps me to fight for the points then it will be even better, but my own goals are constantly good driving.

"If the whole package and the whole car work better than last year then it will help me score some more points.  Let's see in Australia, and then see where we can end up."
