Kolles not disappointed by stewards ruling

Spyker boss Colin Kolles has said he is far from disappointed about the stewards' reaction to his team's protest against Scuderia Toro Rosso

The stewards said on Saturday that they could not rule on whether Toro Rosso's STR2 is legal because the issue of customer cars has already been taken to arbitration. They duly returned Spyker's protest fee.

Although that decision means an outcome to F1's customer car issue is unlikely to be reached for several months, Kolles has welcomed the fact that the stewards have been so thorough in looking into the matter.

And he was particularly happy with the fact that Toro Rosso have made available to the FIA two components from their car - which have been retained.

He told autosport.com: "We are very happy with the reaction of the stewards and the fact that they have preserved evidence."

Kolles has ruled out his team taking any further action this weekend, but a protest at the next Grand Prix in Bahrain cannot be ruled out.

The stewards themselves admitted to the possibility of future protests in the statement they issued on Friday morning.

A statement said: "Although Spyker clearly has a right to make such Protest in the future as they consider appropriate and, clearly, each Protest will be judged on its own merits, to the extent that any such future protest might relate to issues already before the International Court of Arbitration, the Stewards suggest that regard be given by Spyker to the reasons set out herein by the Stewards for considering the protest to be inadmissible.

"The Stewards wish to record that any future attempt to lodge a protest in a similar vein will be dealt with appropriately."
