Klien fit for France

Jaguar's Christian Klien has declared himseld fit to race at this weekend's French Grand Prix despite injuring his right index finger on a cooling fan during testing at Barcelona last week.

With the temperatures in Spain hitting the 40 degree C mark during testing, Klien picked up a brake-cooling fan in a bid to cool himself down following a run of laps in the R5. Unfortunately the Austrian's finger slipped through the protective grill slicing his finger and bringing his test session to an abrupt end.

"It's [the finger] getting better," Klien told the Jaguar website. "It was quite painful in the beginning because I cut off the top of the first finger on the right hand. It was just the skin but there are a lot of sensitive nerves in the finger so it was really painful. It's getting better now and I will be fit for the weekend, no problem. There's no pain any more, the new skin has grown over and it looks good."

But Klien has revealed that he will be fit for Magny-Cours this weekend and is confident both he the team will fare well following its successful test in Spain.

"It was just 26 laps but I immediately had a good feeling with the car again and good feeling in the high speed corners which is also very important for Magny-Cours," added Klien. "It was a really good two-car test for the team and we managed lots of problem free running to complete our planned programme.

"I raced there in F3 last year but once you're there with a Formula 1 car it's a completely different story. But I can say I really like the circuit, there's some very nice high speed corners and chicanes and it could be a good weekend for us because we were very strong there last year and Michelin should also be very competitive on their home patch."
