Klien Delighted after 'Perfect' Lap

Christian Klien was delighted with his qualifying effort for the Brazilian Grand Prix after equalling his best performance in Formula One

The Red Bull driver recovered well from an accident on Friday to post an impressive sixth fastest time of the day.

The Austrian claimed his flying lap had been flawless.

"I had a really perfect qualifying lap," said Klien. "I was right on the edge and had good balance in the car. Things felt good this morning and we built on that by making a few changes after the day's final practice, and before the start of qualifying.

"I fought hard throughout the qualifying lap and got a good result at the end of it. I have to thank the team. My car was pretty damaged after yesterday's crash, but they repaired it quickly, meaning we could get back on with our practice programme this morning."

Klien finished ten places ahead of teammate David Coulthard, who continued to struggle with the handling of his car.

"We've been struggling a bit this weekend," said Coulthard. "We trimmed the wing this morning to try and achieve more speed, which is just one of the compromises we've had to make. I was suffering with understeer on my qualifying lap, which meant I lost some time on the tight turns.

"But, I think we've got a reasonable fuel load ahead of tomorrow's race and we've done the best we can with the tools on offer, so now it's just a question of seeing what the race brings."
