Klien and Bell set for Jag test
Rising Austrian Formula 3 star Christian Klien and American F3000 racer Townsend Bell will test for Jaguar Racing at Valencia in Spain at the end of this month
The duo will join regular drivers Mark Webber and Justin Wilson as the team continues its on-going driver evaluation programme for next season. All three drivers are in with a chance of securing the role of Webber's team-mate for 2004, but the result of the test will not be the only factor.
"This is not a shoot-out," said team spokesman Nav Sidhu. "We know these guys well, but what we don't know is how well they will go in a Formula 1 Jaguar."
The test will take place over three days on November 25-27. The team will have two cars on hand, which Klien, Bell and Webber will share over the first two days, with Wilson joining the Australian on day three.
Jaguar has not ruled out the possibility of testing more drivers before deciding on its 2004 line-up.
Klien is backed by the Red Bull energy drinks company, which is a potential sponsor of the Jaguar team next year. McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz is another driver understood to be in the frame for the drive.
