JPM not the only 'Juan'
Juan Pablo Montoya is not the only sports start to have fallen victim to Australian Channel 7 wind-up specialists David Lutteral and Ashley Bradnam, prompting him to storm out of a pre-Australian Grand Prix press conference on Wednesday
The pair, nicknamed The Cub Reporters, got themselves banned from this year's Sydney Adidas International tennis event after targeting Greg Rusedski and Lindsay Davenport at a press conference.
They asked Rusedski if he was having an affair with Marat Safin, before apologising and telling him they'd confused him with Jelena Dokic. And they asked Davenport if she knew who she was. The tennis star, thinking it was a deeply philosophical question, replied: "I don't think I know who I am."
Montoya's first question was: "I have Juan [one] question for Juan. Just a hypothetical Juan [one], Juan. As the wonder kid, the rising number Juan [one], Juan, Juan [one] wonders, should Juan win only Juan [one] in Juan [one] year, would Juan want to have Juan [won] that Juan [one] in round Juan [one], Juan?"
Montoya straight-batted that and the conference returned to normality for a while, before the second stooge stood up and shout into his mobile phone: "Hello. What? No, I'm at a press conference. Press conference. With Juan Pablo, the racing car driver, not the painter. Do me a favour, I can't play golf. Ring David"
Montoya, looking annoyed, continued until the joker continued: "I can't play golf. I'll ask him [Montoya], 'can you play golf with my mum?'
At which Montoya stood up, said thank-you very much, and walked off stage. The comedian returned to his phone and added: "He said 'no.'"
Montoya climbed into his X5 road car and left soon after, without fulfilling a number of other commitments for Williams sponsor Allianz. Lutteral and Bradnam have also targeted golf and rugby events around the country.
