Grapevine: More details on Schumacher-Shell ad

Michael Schumacher's personal assistant Sabine Kehm has moved to dispel suggestions in the Italian press that the German will appear in a Shell advertisement alongside a Renault car

Filming of the ad, at a petrol station in Switzerland, created some confusion after a bystander photographed Schumacher servicing Renault and Nissan cars.

However, Shell clarified that Renault (which also owns Nissan) is not involved in the advertisement, while a Ferrari spokesman further clarified that "Not even one car logo will ever be seen in that commercial."

At the same time, Kehm has revealed more details about the ad's concept. "It was a matter of simulating a funny candid camera situation," she told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"There were three scenarios filmed, one of which was refueling, performed on any kind and make of car that would stop by chance at that petrol station.

"You can imagine the surprise on the drivers' faces when they realised the fuel pump attendant was Schumacher!

"So, there certainly were Nissan and Renault cars being filmed, but also cars from the Fiat Group. This will obviously be kept in mind when the commercial will be post-produced before being released."

Kehm added that the ad will be released on the internet, and denied suggestions by the newspaper that it would only be aired after Schumacher's contract with Ferrari comes to an end.

"They were shooting a commercial to be aired on the internet," she explained. "And it won't be released next year but as soon as possible, as it's in Shell's interests: that means it will be out while Michael is by all means still a Ferrari driver.

"The collaboration [between Schumacher and Ferrari] will continue, that's for sure, besides that's what's also written in the official statement released by Ferrari at the end of the Italian GP at Monza.

"When the time comes, it will be known in what shape and form."
