Grapevine: Montoya ready to help son's career
Juan Pablo Montoya may not have to worry as much as Nigel Mansell just yet about planning his son's racing career, but the Colombian has admitted that he will help his kid make the breakthrough if he is asked to
Montoya's son Sebastian is only eight months old, far too young even for karting, but the McLaren driver has said that he already thinks his only future involvement in racing will be through offering assistance for his child's career.
"I probably won't be involved with racing 30 years from now," said Montoya on McLaren's website. "That would be mad, to be honest. There is no way I'll run a team. You work hard for your money, so why put it on the line?
"I don't know what I'll be doing 30 years from now, but I guarantee that I'll stop this and take a break from racing. Maybe I'll be involved if my son likes it, and I will try to help him."
Mansell has this week thrown his weight behind the careers of his sons Greg and Leo by becoming an ambassador to the Formula BMW UK Championship, in which they will race next year.
