Grapevine: De Ferran joins Massa's karting event

Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran will come out of retirement for a while to race at Felipe Massa's International Challenge karting event

De Ferran has accepted Massa's invitation and will join several other drivers, including seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, at the Ingleses kart track, in Brazil, on November 24th and 25th.

"I am flattered with the invitation, but I know exactly the difficulties I will face. I am out of the track for a while, so I am a little behind," said de Ferran.

"I will work hard in fitness. Different from my friends Rubinho Barrichello and Tony Kanaan, who are always racing and practicing, I have been out of the karting competitions since 1984."

Massa added: "Gil has always been a first class driver. You can be sure he will remember how to race a go-kart very quickly and will be a tough competitor. The story of being a little rusty is only to misguide. There is no doubt the guy will come to win."
