Friday Second Free Practice - US GP

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello led Ferrari's charge in the second practice session for the United States Grand Prix as he topped the times ahead of Briton Anthony Davidson at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday.

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello led Ferrari's charge in the second practice session for the United States Grand Prix as he topped the times ahead of Briton Anthony Davidson at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday.

Barrichello, who also finished fastest in the morning session, set a time of 1:10.365 to finish 0.602 seconds ahead of Davidson as Ferrari and BAR-Honda went head to head once again.

World Champion Michael Schumacher held together a spectacular spin to finish fourth behind the Williams-BMW of Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya, who put in a strong showing in the first two practice sessions of the weekend.

Briton Jenson Button finished fifth, 0.865 seconds off the pace with the second Williams-BMW of German Ralf Schumacher in sixth and Toyota trio Cristiano da Matta, Olivier Panis and Ricardo Zonta seventh, eighth and ninth.

Finn Kimi Raikkonen completed the top ten for McLaren-Mercedes but his teammate David Coulthard suffered disaster five minutes in when he stopped on track and was forced to push his car behind the barrier.

Swede Bjorn Wirdheim's session started badly when his Jaguar stopped in the pitlane but he was able to return to the pits and recover as his Australian teammate Mark Webber spun during the session.

Spaniard Fernando Alonso also had a spin and brushed the tyre wall in his Renault before Japanese driver Takuma Sato collided with Sauber's Brazilian Felipe Massa and the session was stopped while the BAR driver's car was removed from the track.

Schumacher made a mistake at turn 11 later on in the session but the World Champion performed a masterly double-360 degree spin across the grass before returning to the track unscathed.
