Frentzen continues to shine

Heinz-Harald Frentzen finished on the podium for the fourth race in succession to move to third in the drivers championship

The German lost out two places at the start after qualifying a season-best second but took advantage of the retirement of Mika Hakkinen to corner third place by the end of the race.

'We can't think about the championship,' he said.

'We are doing well and finishing consistently but to win the championship you have to win consistently.

'I am really happy to finish on the podium and win points for the first time at my home race at Hockenheim.

'I said I wanted to do well here and I did. My start was not as good as David Coulthard's or Mika Salo's so we are going to have to look at that.

'It's something we need to work on. We had too much wheel spin compared to them.

'Unfortunately I lost a place to Eddie in the pits, although we had a good stop but to earn four points is fantastic.

'We are on target to take third place in the championship and we are continuing to see how we can make even more improvements in the car.'

Frentzen has shown incredible consistency to finish all but three of the ten races in ten points.

He has now overtaken the injured Michael Schumacher for third place with 33 points to Eddie Irvine's 52 and Hakkinen's 44 while Jordan strengthened their third place in the constructors championship.
