Firman happy after crucial test

Jordan's Ralph Firman took a big step towards making his grand prix return this weekend when he took part in Friday's two-hour private test session at Indianapolis

Firman, who has been out of his Jordan-Ford drive for two races after crashing heavily during practice in Hungary, has said the test will be crucial to his hopes of racing this weekend. He had been suffering from dizzy spells, brought on by an inner ear problem.

Jordan also had Formula 3000 champion Bjorn Wirdheim in action in the two-hour test at Indy, but will not be needed to sub for Firman.

"I feel fine and it's great to be back in the car," said Ralph. "There are only two races to go and we need to make the most of them so I'm hoping to score a point or two if I can. If this wet then dry weather continues we may be in with a chance."

Firman completed 47 laps and ended the session seventh fastest, half a second slower than team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella.
