F1 testing: Morning glory for DC and Schuey Jnr

Coulthard lapped in 1m15.333s in his McLaren MP4/15, almost a second quicker than Rubens Barrichello. The Ferrari star - who, like the Scot, is concentrating on Bridgestone's 2001-spec tyres - hit trouble twice this morning, causing two red flags as he ground to a halt on the circuit.

"I think it's the hydraulics," said the Brazilian as he walked back to the pits after the second stoppage. "It just died and I think I've left a bit of oil on the track."

McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz was third quickest as he tests aerodynamic tweaks for the Woking outfit, just 0.01s slower than Barrichello. The Austrian suffered an off through the Turn 8 gravel trap while circulating just ahead of Coulthard.

Jordan's test driver Ricardo Zonta is outpacing regular pilot Heinz-Harald Frentzen so far, although the German has only complete eight laps this morning. Jos Verstappen is also present for Arrows, lapping in 1m17.954s.

Two hundred miles north, the Michelin teams were into their second day at Barcelona in much warmer conditions than yesterday. Ralf Schumacher was straight into the groove for Williams and, although he didn't complete many laps, was reckoned to have dipped into the 1m20.4s bracket.

This is four-tenths quicker than Giancarlo Fisichella lapped for Benetton yesterday, although no further details are available yet.
