Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4 will appear at the same event for the first time after non-championship British F4 races have been added to the British Grand Prix bill.

This will be the maiden appearance for the British category on the British GP undercard, an aspiration that championship promoter Motorsport UK has long harboured.

Two races are due to be held across the 4-6 July fixture each lasting 25 minutes plus one lap. This represents a slightly longer duration than the series' usual 20-minute contests.

The non-championship races are only open to teams already registered to race in British F4 this year, but several of these outfits have cars available.

"It goes without saying that this is a real milestone moment for everyone that is involved with the F4 British Championship certified by FIA," said championship manager Eve Lake-Grange.

"To have the opportunity to compete on the support bill of Formula 1 at the British Grand Prix is something that we’ve been working towards for a long time, so we are delighted to have been able to now make it happen.

"We pride ourselves on being the first step on the pathway to Formula 1 and for our drivers to be able to see the potential career roadmap that is ahead of them - on the same weekend that they are competing - will be both special and inspiring.

"The level of interest that we’ve had for this non-championship event has been incredible so far and we’re shaping up to confirm a bumper, ultra-competitive grid.

"There is no bigger stage than Formula 1 and we’re all incredibly excited to put on a show for the hundreds of thousands of fans that will be in attendance at Silverstone in July."

The British GP will be British F4's second event on the Silverstone GP layout this year having also been part of the C1 24 Hours fixture around the Northamptonshire track earlier this month.
