Ecclestone signs official biography deal
Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is to have an authorised biography published in 2004, which he promises will be an "open and honest" account of his 50 years in motorsport
The book will be written by Susan Watkins, the wife of Professor Sid Watkins, the chief medical officer of Formula 1, and published by Ebury Press in May 2004.
"I have known Susan for 21 years and have complete faith in her integrity," said Ecclestone. "She has proved to be an accomplished biographer through her previous books and she knows I want the book to be open and honest. She has interviewed many people who have known me throughout most of my life and they have given her material that will complete the picture - past and present."
Ebury Press editorial director Hannah MacDonald said: "Bernie's official biography has long been the holy grail of sports publishing. Not only is Bernie a massively influential figure in the sporting world, he is one of the country's most successful businessmen. So this is the story of an extraordinary character."
