Davidson will be fit for BAR (updated)

Anthony Davidson should be fit for British American Racing testing duties, despite suffering neck injuries in a Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix practice shunt

The McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Young Driver is not as badly hurt as was first feared. An initial examination at a Macau hospital found he had a hairline fracture of a vertebrae and torn neck ligaments. But Davidson was well enough to leave hospital without having to stay in over night and went to the track today to watch the second qualifying session. He says he is already feeling "50 percent better".

But even though he could be fit enough to race on Sunday, Davidson still rules out taking part. "I won't try it," he told Autosport.com. "It is more important to get fit. I reckon I will be back to normal in a week and a half so it won't affect F1 testing. I feel it is just muscle injury and I find it hard to believe there is bone damage."

Davidson's time set on Thursday was still good enough for 13th on the grid for Sunday's race.
