Coulthard wants points finish

David Coulthard wants to get his championship challenge underway this weekend with a healthy haul of points at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Despite leading the early stages of the season-opener in Australia, Coulthard was sidelined by gearbox problems and currently lies 10 points behind Michael Schumacher in the championship.

"I am focusing on scoring my first points of the season and we are optimistic that we can leave Sepang with a good result," said the Scot. "I have spent a few days relaxing in Thailand and am ready for action."

Kimi Raikkonen upheld McLaren honour in Melbourne, setting the fastest lap and taking a podium position in his first race for the team. However, third place was less than the team was expecting and they're keen to redress the balance this weekend.

"Although we were disappointed with the result in Australia, we demonstrated that the potential was there," said managing director Martin Whitmarsh. "We are looking to improve the results and McLaren goes to Sepang with the same aim as always, to secure victory."
