Coulthard annoyed by Montoya rumours

Montoya is understood to be in talks with Red Bull Racing about a deal for 2007, but the news linking the Colombian with a switch has not gone down well with the team's current star driver.

Coulthard, who lost his seat at McLaren to Montoya for 2005, has made it clear that he is pretty unimpressed with the job his replacement has done alongside Kimi Raikkonen.

"He has just got to shut up and get on with it," Coulthard told the British media in Melbourne. "I can't comment on rumours, I can only comment on fact, and you have just got to get on with the job."

He added: "The statistics show that relative to Kimi he has not done as well as I did. In the absence of any other information, that is what it boils down to.

"I know that McLaren use this type of information to make decisions, and he simply has not done anything remarkable.

"But he is in a position where he's got to make noises; he's got to look to the future. That is understandable. It may well be at Red Bull and may well be somewhere else.

"But one year in, he has had a clear indication from McLaren that they are not that impressed."

Coulthard has made no secret of the fact that he wants to remain at Red Bull Racing next year, especially with the 2007 car due to be designed by Adrian Newey.

"I want to carry on with Red Bull next year," continued Coulthard. "Obviously it is a two-way street, but I have invested time and effort in my team, and I would like to see the results of that.

"I believe Dietrich Mateschitz to be committed and loyal to people who are performing. I haven't got any points on the board in the first two races, but over the course of the season I believe I will perform and score points and deliver for the team."
