Canada confident of securing GP

Montreal has been handed a provisional slot by the FIA on the 2010 schedule pending the completion of a deal with Formula One Management.

Ecclestone stirred things up with the Canadian media in Japan, however, by claiming that he wanted the matter settled in the next few days.

He was quoted as saying: "When I come back from Japan next week, I'm going to need final answers to all of our questions. If I don't have them, there won't be a Grand Prix in Montreal."

He added: "We're still trying to reach [an agreement]. I'm no longer very confident. We have waited to have all of the answers. We can't wait much longer."

Although Ecclestone appears to be running out of patience, Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay told Montreal radio station CJAD that matters were in hand.

"I'm not very concerned about that," Tremblay said about Ecclestone's remarks. "We're continuing our negotiations and when we have a signed deal we'll make it public."
