Button prefers to make point in races
Jenson Button has revealed that he did not feel any satisfaction after being gifted his first ever-Formula 1 point
The WilliamsF1 driver was awarded one point after being promoted from seventh to sixth following David Coulthard's disqualification.
Coulthard was stripped of second place after his McLaren was deemed to have an illegal front wing.
McLaren is appealing against the decision and will attend an FIA court of appeal hearing next Monday.
However, speaking to The Sun newspaper, Button said he would have preferred to have earned his point on the race track.
"If I am handed the point it will give me no real satisfaction because I would rather win it fair and square," said the 20-year-old.
"I heard the news about David as I was making my way to the airport to fly back from Brazil - and I can't say it gave me any great feeling of joy.
"You want to earn any success through your driving skills, not someone else's misfortune."
