Jenson Button is confident that he will be given the okay to race in the Canadian Grand Prix after a medical examination in Canada this afternoon

The Englishman suffered concussion after a heavy crash during Saturday morning's second free practice session at the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks ago. Button has not been allowed to drive his BAR-Honda since and was forced to sit out a test at Monza last week.

"I feel fine, there are no after-effects and I was examined on Tuesday and there were no problems," said Button. "I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

"There has been some press speculation that I won't be racing here in Canada but I expect everything to be okay this afternoon. I think it would have been the wrong decision to try to race at Monaco because I only got up on the Sunday morning and was feeling a bit groggy. There was some back pain two or three days later but I feel fine."

Button doubts that the accident will have any negative psychological effects: "I suppose it can be a problem if you have crashed with another car, the next time you have to overtake, but it was just me on my own. I think I braked a bit later than I had before for the chicane.

"If you know what happened there are no issues and I'm just looking forward to getting back in the car. Some people in the team are a bit worried because I didn't get back in a car straight away but I don't think about the accident. And I won't be changing anything about the way I have been driving."
