Button Delighted with Strong Qualifying

Briton Jenson Button was happy to qualify on the second row of the grid at Monza after a difficult weekend for his BAR team

Button has not been happy with his car's set-up since the start of the weekend, but things improved after today's final practice and BAR put on a solid performance.

Button posted the fourth quickest time but will start from third following Kimi Raikkonen's penalty for changing the engine.

"All day I have just suffered with set-up a bit," Button told ITV. "We got it together in the fourth practice and I am very happy because it has been a tough weekend for me.

"I don't know about the race. With Kimi ten places back it helps but he can still come through from 11th but it is nice to be near to the front and hopefully if we have a reasonably good strategy it can be good.

"The next four races are going to be positive. This was going to be one of our bad races, so it is just making the best of a bad situation really."

BAR's strong day was completed with the performance of Button's teammate Takuma Sato, who will start right behind the Briton.

Sato, who equalled his best grid position of the season, was feeling confident of a strong race.

"I was very happy with the car balance this morning," he said. "We made some set-up changes and I really enjoyed the lap.

"We did a lot of testing last week that indicated we have a strong package for long distance. This morning we showed good speed and hopefully we can have a strong race tomorrow.

"Since everyone did a test it did not give one team a real advantage but it is nice to have a test before the week and get into the rhythm mentally and physically."
