BMW say 'no way' Kubica may lose his seat

BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen says there are no doubts that Robert Kubica will be back racing with the team as soon as he is fit, despite Sebastian Vettel's strong showing at Indianapolis this weekend

Vettel will make his F1 debut from seventh on the grid in the United States Grand Prix, after being drafted it at the last minute when Kubica was not cleared by the FIA to return to action following his Montreal accident.

The speed of the young German has prompted some speculation, especially in Poland, that Kubica could have a fight on his hands to regain his seat.

But Theissen has insisted that Kubica will be back and that there will be no repeat of what happened last year, when Jacques Villeneuve parted company with the team after being replaced for one race.

"No way," said Theissen when asked about Vettel staying on board. "As soon as Robert is cleared he will be in the car again."

Theissen also made it clear that any strong performance from Vettel this afternoon will not change the team's plans.

When asked if Vettel would stay on board if he finished on the podium: "Absolutely not. Even if he wins the race!"
