BMW confirm Glock as second test driver

Timo Glock has signed as BMW-Sauber's second test driver for next season, alongside Sebastian Vettel

As autosport.com revealed last week, Glock held talks with the Swiss team this week to discuss his future after testing for them during the winter runs.

Glock, who will race in GP2 next season, will only take part in mid-season tests away from race meetings - with Vettel getting his runs during the Fridays of grands prix.

Speaking about his deal, he said: "I got to know the team during my two test sessions in Barcelona and Jerez and I'm really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the BMW-Sauber F1.07 in 2007.

"Driving a Formula One racing car is quite simply the greatest challenge you can have as a racing driver. Formula One has always been my goal."

Theissen added: "We've known Timo for a long time already. After all, he started out on his formula motor racing career in Formula BMW six years or so ago and won two titles.

"He's since enjoyed success and gathered experience in various different formulas, including Formula Three, Formula One and the Champ Car series in the US.

"In 2006 he performed extremely impressively in the exciting GP2 series. He will assist us with our testing work."
