Blundell praises USGP circuit

The Champ Car race winner suggested that the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be awe-inspiring for the current crop of Grand Prix drivers.

"Some people are going to come from Formula One, and they're going to get chills down their spine," he said.

But the PacWest driver also praised the job the IMS had done on building the Grand Prix track itself, using part of the famous oval, and an all-new road course inside the 'Brickyard'.

"I think they have done a very good job, given the confines within which they had to build the track," said Blundell.

"The facilities are going to be first-rate. The track has some corners that are going to be... colourful! And coming off the banking onto the main straight is going to be impressive."

The former Grand Prix driver with Tyrrell, Ligier and McLaren claims the track would pose an interesting challenge for drivers and engineers alike, as they attempt to balance the need for high downforce on the infield section, with high speeds on the Speedway track.

"Someday I hope to be sitting in a race car there myself," Blundell added.
