BAR wants points from Magny-Cours
The BAR-Honda team is looking to put its difficult European Grand Prix behind it by scoring well in this weekend's French Grand Prix
Jenson Button did manage to collect two points for seventh place at the Nurburgring, but they were inherited rather than an indication of sheer pace, while Jacques Villeneuve delivered his most uncompetitive performance for a considerable time, running near the tail of the field before retiring with a gearbox problem.
BAR's team principal David Richards and Villeneuve have also both raised concerns over the competitiveness of the Bridgestone tyres used by BAR, and Magny-Cours is the home circuit of Japanese tyre manufacturer's rival, Michelin.
"We will be hoping to ensure a stronger weekend for both drivers," said Richards. "Jacques will understandably have been disappointed with his performance last weekend but with only a week between these two races, a quick return to the track should provide him with the momentum he needs.
"We expect this to be the strongest tyre challenge so far this season but we are confident that a points finish for both cars is a possibility."
