BAR to make extra push
BAR team boss David Richards has hinted that the team will go all out to claim its first-ever victory at the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix now that it has all but secured second place in the constructors' championship
Following Jenson Button and Takuma Sato's third and fourth positions in Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix, BAR has now extended its lead over Renault to 16 points with just one race of the season to contest.
The team is desperate to take its maiden win this year and with the runners-up prize practically in the bag Richards says the opportunity has now arisen to push for that victory.
"We have to look for that one elusive victory and maybe this result here will give us the opportunity to fight for it, but fighting against the like of Michael and Rubens in Brazil will not be easy," Richards said in Suzuka.
Honda unleashed its latest engine development at Suzuka providing Button and Sato with around 960bhp, but Ferrari's Michael Schumacher still finished 19s ahead of the third-placed Briton, and that was after slowly considerably in the closing laps.
The team will therefore have to pull something extra out of the bag in Brazil to fend off the two Ferrari drivers, one who is determined to win his home race for the first time and the other who will settle for nothing less than a win to round out the most dominant F1 season he's ever had.
