The Autosport Retro Podcast channel has been running through a series called ‘My Favourite F1 Season’.

It has entailed Autosport Editor-In-Chief Kevin Turner sitting down with broadcasters and journalists to discuss their favourite Formula 1 campaign - for example, Karun Chandhok and 1997.

Nine campaigns were therefore discussed in detail but for the 10th and final episode, Kevin, sportscar correspondent Gary Watkins and F1 writer Stuart Codling discuss the seasons which narrowly missed the cut.

There are mentions of modern classics like 2021, despite its controversial ending, all the way back to 1958 and the world championship that got away from Stirling Moss against Mike Hawthorn.

The 1979 season is also mentioned and the battle between Jody Schekter and Gilles Villeneuve, while Kevin also asks what makes a great F1 season.
