Audetto praises Aguri's fighting spirit
Super Aguri managing director Daniel Audetto has praised his team's fighting spirit after a sensational performance from the minnows in the Brazilian Grand Prix
Takuma Sato delivered his team's best result of the year with a strong drive to 10th place at Interlagos - a performance that stood out so much that world champions Renault made sure to deliver bottles of champagne down to the Aguri garage.
And with such a result less than 12 months since the team was created, Audetto is more than satisfied with what Super Aguri have achieved this season.
"It shows that the team were working until the last race 100 percent," he told autosport.com. "We created a strong base for next year we are very happy with what we did in such a short time.
"But we always want to do better and we are never happy losing. Our spirit is really fighting and potentially winning.
"We started the season so late, we only had two real tests during the year, so we can now say that our winter testing season is over. To finish 10th with a good laptime is a sign of progress and of the fantastic performance of the team."
Super Aguri are trying to run with a modified version of this year's Honda Racing RA106 chassis next season, but the rules on such 'customer cars' have not yet been fully clarified.
All Audetto would say about the team's 2007 car was: "We will have the best possible car within the existing regulations."
Honda Racing test driver Anthony Davidson is expected to be confirmed as Takuma Sato's teammate for next year, although a final contract has not been finalised yet.
Audetto said a decision would be made by the middle of next month.
"We have not decided yet and it is not a priority now," he said. "Aguri will make the decision in the middle of November."
