Andretti hopes to enter F1 in two years

Marco Andretti hopes to move to Formula One in a couple of years' time, after he has gained more experience in the IndyCar Series

The 19-year-old, son of 1991 CART champion Michael Andretti and grandson of 1978 F1 world champion Mario Andretti, is getting his first chance of driving a Formula One car at Jerez in Spain this Friday, where he will be testing for the Honda team.

And the American admitted he has his sights on emulating his grandfather's achievements once he's done with IRL, where he drives for his father's Andretti Green Racing team.

"Formula One is a big dream of mine," the young Andretti was quoted as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport today. "To win the world championship is the thing I desire the most.

"In a perfect world, with the last two years of my contract with Dad, I would like to win the Indy 500 and then come to Europe."

Marco took victory at Sears Point during his rookie season in the IndyCar Series, and only missed out on success at Indianapolis this year by the smallest of margins, as he was passed by Sam Hornish Jr coming out of the final turn on the last lap.
