Rosberg: More to come from Mercedes
Nico Rosberg is confident that there is more to come from the Mercedes and that the team is yet to show its true competitiveness
The German set the fastest time on the first day at Jerez before handing over to team-mate Michael Schumacher on Thursday. Rosberg was back behind the wheel today, completing 53 laps with the seventh quickest time.
But there was little meaningful dry running with only a handful of laps this morning before the rain, and Rosberg is comfortable with the performance of the Mercedes so far.
"It's difficult to judge but I'm pretty comfortable at the moment," he said. "I'm confident that wherever we are, we can progress strongly.
"It's difficult to say where we are, but more or less you can judge it. I think we'll be close to the front for sure, but if it's enough to win or not, we'll have to wait and see."
Rosberg agreed with the comments of team boss Ross Brawn and team-mate Michael Schumacher that it might be a few races before the true pace of the car is unlocked.
"It's possible, yes," he added. "It's difficult to judge, again, but it's possible. What gives me hope is that I see a strong potential to progress quickly from wherever we are, and that's nice.
"It was a pity is wast wet again because I am eager to get some dry running in, but we still got some valuable things done. I did four laps in the dry two days ago and half a lap today, and I felt massively comfortable. I could push and really feel at home.
"That's something that really gives me comfort, so I'm not worrying that I haven't driven a lot in the dry yet because I feel like it will take me two laps and I've got it."
