Calendar still uncertain, says Ecclestone

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has admitted that next year's calendar remains in a state of flux due to the issues caused by having Monaco and Turkey back-to-back

As AUTOSPORT revealed last weekend, F1 teams have asked Ecclestone to try and reschedule the Turkey event because of the logistical problems in trying to get equipment to the venue so soon after Monaco.

Ecclestone says the issue cannot be resolved until after he is sure the Canadian Grand Prix is on the calendar - with Turkey set to be moved back a week from its current May 30 slot if discussions to sort out a Montreal contract fail.

Speaking about the prospects for Canada, Ecclestone said: "Don't know at the moment. We are still trying to do something with them."

When asked by AUTOSPORT about the situation regarding moving Turkey to avoid the back-to-back issue with Monaco, Ecclestone said: "Difficult. We will have to see what happens to Canada...got any easy questions?"

Ecclestone also suggested that news about the fate of the British Grand Prix may not be finalised until the middle of October, and he praised the efforts made by Suzuka to revamp its pit and paddock complex.

"Now you guys understand why I complained about Silverstone," he said. "They have got on with it. That was one of the conditions for us to come back here."
