Williams buoyed by Ralf lap

Ralf Schumacher and the BMW Williams team are encouraged by the German's third fastest time in the second free practice session at the Nurburgring, though his Colombian team-mate admits that he's some way from being in harmony with his car on the European Grand Prix track

"I am not unhappy with my result in free practice today," said Schumacher. "With regards to the set-up, we are on the right way but it's clear that there is some good room for improvement."

Montoya could only manage 11th best, though he was still within one second of the best time set by McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen. "I wasn't on the same wavelength as my car today," admitted Montoya.

"I was expecting some difficulties in setting it up and this caused more of a problem than I thought. The car is quite hard to drive and most of all unpredictable. If you look at what Ralf has achieved, it's clear that the potential is there, so we just need to focus on our problems and hopefully solve them by tomorrow."
