Bottas holds edge over Hamilton in Autosport readers' driver ratings

Valtteri Bottas still holds a small lead over Mercedes Formula 1 team-mate Lewis Hamilton in the Autosport readers' driver ratings heading into the Monaco Grand Prix

Though Hamilton usurped his team-mate at the head of the actual world championship standings with his Spanish GP win, readers' votes in our interactive driver ratings feature - which runs following every F1 race - have Bottas on an 8.53 out of 10 average compared to Hamilton's 8.51.

Red Bull star Max Verstappen is right on their tail in third place, with an average score of 8.37 from the five GPs so far.

Your votes have clearly recognised the star drives being achieved in the midfield this year, and it's Racing Point's Sergio Perez who currently holds fourth overall on a 7.73 average.

Carlos Sainz Jr vaulted from eighth to fifth with his battling Barcelona drive, just ahead of Kimi Raikkonen in sixth, while George Russell's gallant efforts for the troubled Williams team have placed him eighth in your rankings so far.

By contrast, some big names and drivers in top cars have categorically failed to impress the readers in the opening rounds.

Sebastian Vettel sits only 15th on a 6.27 average, a full eight places behind Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc, but one place ahead of Red Bull to Renault mover Daniel Ricciardo.

Ricciardo is at least faring better than his Red Bull replacement. Pierre Gasly's muted start to life in the senior team has failed to wow Autosport readers, and he sits last of all in the standings on an average of 5.43.

You can keep track of the average scores from both readers and our Grand Prix Editor Edd Straw, as well as reading all the ratings features so far on our dedicated driver ratings page.
